This resolution honors the life and service of United States Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant Eugene J. Darrigan, who was laid to rest in Wappingers Falls, New York, on May 24, 2025. Darrigan, a radio operator during World War II, was killed in action in 1944 when his B-24 bomber was struck by enemy fire off the coast of New Guinea. His remains were unrecoverable for 81 years until Project Recover, in partnership with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, located the wreckage in 2017.
