Assembly Resolution No. 361 honors Chief Daniel John Schwertfeger for his 50 years of dedicated service to the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department. Schwertfeger began his service in 1975, rising through the ranks to become Chief in 1986. He retired in 2020 but returned to the position in 2024. During his tenure, he improved the department's equipment and facilities, served as President of the Oneida County Fire Chiefs Association and the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, and contributed to the development of a training maze. He also served on the Town of Floyd Board as a Councilman.
