The New York State Senate commends Lieutenant Gregory R. Jankowiak for his heroic actions in saving a bicyclist's life. On July 25, 2024, while off duty, Lieutenant Jankowiak encountered an unconscious bicyclist in the Town of Alden. He blocked traffic, performed CPR, contacted emergency services, and directed motorists to assist until emergency responders arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later underwent open-heart surgery.
