New York State Senate Resolution 745 commends Kenneth C. Thayer for his military service and contributions to society. Thayer, a decorated World War II veteran, was one of the first Allied soldiers to enter the Netherlands. He received the Distinguished Service Cross, two Bronze Stars, and three Purple Hearts for his service. After the war, Thayer served as a civilian employee at Griffiss Air Force Base for four decades. He also served as Treasurer for the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired and authored two books on his military experiences.
