Automatically extends welfare, medical, and retirement plans for horsemen for one year if no new contract is in place.
This bill amends the racing, pari-mutuel wagering, and breeding law to ensure that welfare, medical, and retirement plans for horsemen are automatically extended for one year if no new contract is negotiated between the licensed harness racing corporation or association and the horsemen's organization. The extension begins from the date the previous contract expired. Payments for these plans will be made monthly from the horsemen's gross purse enhancement amount from video lottery gaming.
