New York Assembly Bill A09185 amends the penal law to include communications generated using artificial intelligence in the definition of falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. This law applies to reports made to officials or quasi-official agencies dealing with emergencies, reports of child abuse or neglect, and reports to law enforcement. The bill defines artificial intelligence as per section seventeen hundred of the general business law. The amendment takes effect immediately upon enactment.
