Allows employees to use paid sick leave for bereavement, pregnancy loss, or foster child departure.
This bill amends the labor law to allow employees to use their accrued paid sick leave for bereavement upon the death of a family member, pregnancy loss by the employee or their spouse or domestic partner, or when a foster child leaves the foster family after being in care for six months or longer. If an employee has already used their allotted paid sick hours for the year, they can take up to five days of unpaid sick time for these purposes. The changes will take effect on January 1, 2027.
