The bill creates an electric school bus infrastructure investment pilot program. The Department of Economic Development will administer the program, awarding grants to two school districts in each economic development region annually. Grants can be used for planning and building clean energy micro-grids to support electric buses, including studies and other expenses. The New York Energy Research and Development Authority will contribute $20 million from ratepayer funds. The program will run from April 1, 2026, to April 1, 2031.
