New York A08811, known as the "small cannabis farmer relief act," amends the cannabis law to allow certain licensees to expand their cultivation canopy. Eligible licensees must qualify as distressed farmers and have legally cultivated cannabis in 2022 or 2023. They can expand their canopy to up to twice the maximum square footage cultivated in those years, provided the expanded area does not exceed the limits set by their cultivation tier. Microbusiness licensees who previously held an adult-use conditional cultivator license are also eligible.
