The Autism Data Privacy Protection Act prohibits state agencies, boards, departments, commissions, political subdivisions, grantees, or contractors from collecting or disclosing personal information of individuals with autism without their informed, written consent. Exceptions apply for court orders, service delivery needs, or lawful mandates. The Attorney General can take legal action against violations, with civil penalties up to $2,500 per violation. Each individual unlawfully disclosed counts as a separate violation. The act takes effect immediately.
