New York A08655 increases special accidental death benefits for certain survivors of state and local retirement system members. The bill amends the General Municipal Law and the Retirement and Social Security Law to increase the salary used in the computation of the special accidental death benefit by three percent for deaths occurring before calendar year 2025. The special accidental death benefit is paid to the deceased member's surviving spouse, children, or parents, if eligible.
