This bill amends the environmental conservation law to extend the authority of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation to manage weakfish until December 31, 2028. The department can set regulations for weakfish management, including size limits, catch and possession limits, open and closed seasons, closed areas, permit requirements, recordkeeping, and transportation and sale restrictions. These regulations must be at least as restrictive as existing requirements and consistent with applicable fishery management plans. The act takes effect immediately.
