Allows political subdivisions to jointly establish a service award program for volunteer firefighters.
This bill amends the general municipal law to allow political subdivisions that contract for fire protection services from a special fire company or department to jointly establish a service award program with political subdivisions that contract for ambulance services from the same special fire company or department. The program can only be established if the governing boards of all participating political subdivisions approve the agreement by a sixty percent affirmative vote and the eligible voters of each political subdivision separately approve the proposition.
