Permits surviving spouses of NYC police pension fund members to retain accidental death benefits upon remarriage.
The bill amends the New York City Retirement and Social Security Law to allow surviving spouses of New York City Police Pension Fund members to retain accidental death benefits upon remarriage. The Special Accidental Death Benefit (SADB) is paid to the deceased member's surviving spouse, regardless of subsequent marital status. If the surviving spouse remarries, they would continue to receive both the non-SADB and SADB portion of the accidental death benefit.
