Authorizes geographic pay differentials for certain police officers in New York when local wage rates are higher.
The bill amends the civil service law to allow for geographic pay differentials for regional state park police, forest rangers, environmental conservation officers, and university police officers. These differentials are authorized when local wage rates for police officers are substantially higher than state rates. The commissioner or chancellor of the relevant agency can authorize these differentials, subject to budget director approval. The differentials are in addition to, not part of, the officers' basic salaries and do not affect other benefits.
