Permits parole board to extend reconsideration time for parole for violent felony offenders.
New York A07648 amends the executive law to allow the parole board to extend the time for reconsideration of parole for violent felony offenders to forty-eight months from a negative determination. The board must specify a date for reconsideration, which can be either twenty-four or forty-eight months from the determination for violent felony offenders, or not more than twenty-four months for all other offenders. If parole is denied, the incarcerated individual must be informed in writing within two weeks of the factors and reasons for the denial.
