New York A07321 amends the insurance law to require health insurers to cover speech therapy for stuttering upon a physician's referral. This includes habilitative and rehabilitative speech therapy performed by licensed professionals. Insurers cannot impose durational benefit limitations or maximums for these services. Coverage may be denied if the treatment is provided under an individualized family service plan or an individualized education plan. The act applies to policies issued, renewed, or modified after its effective date.
