New York A07224 amends the public health law to require primary care providers to recommend follow-up blood lead level screenings to parents when a child's blood lead level is between 15 and 24.99 micrograms per deciliter. If a child's blood lead level exceeds 25 micrograms per deciliter, the Department of Health must conduct an environmental investigation. The department may recover costs from entities responsible for the lead exposure. The act takes effect immediately.
