New York Assembly Bill A07041 amends the public authorities law to mandate that all trains and stations operated by the Long Island Rail Road and the Metro-North Commuter Railroad Company must have automated external defibrillators as part of their medical emergency services program. The bill also requires training for designated employees in first aid, emergency techniques, and handling of stricken commuters, as well as knowledge of procedures and equipment for respiratory and cardiac emergencies. The changes will take effect one year after the bill becomes law.
