New York A07022 requires the chief administrator of the courts, in conjunction with the office of information technology services, to develop a statewide electronic portal for the exchange of discovery in criminal cases. This portal will be available to police departments, district attorneys, institutional defense providers, private attorneys, and assigned counsel. The portal is intended to facilitate the disclosure of required discovery to opposing counsel in criminal cases and must be operational by January 1, 2027. The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
