Allows fire departments to elect chiefs and assistant chiefs on the same day as administration officers.
This bill amends the town law to allow the board of fire commissioners to set the day of election for fire department chiefs and assistant chiefs on the same day as the election of the fire department's administration officers. The members of the fire department must meet on the Thursday following the first Tuesday in April to nominate candidates for these positions. The board of fire commissioners will then consider these nominations and appoint the candidates. If a nomination is not approved, the board will call for another meeting until a full set of officers is approved.
