Provides for the confidentiality of personnel records of police officers, firefighters, correction officers and probation officers.

This bill amends the civil rights law to add a new section ensuring the confidentiality of personnel records for police officers, firefighters, correction officers, and probation officers. These records, used for evaluating performance toward continued employment or promotion, are considered confidential and not subject to inspection or review without the express written consent of the officer. The provisions do not apply to any district attorney or assistants, the attorney general, or any agency of government which requires the records in the furtherance of their official functions.
