Limits the number of hours certain public employees can work.
New York Assembly Bill A06658 amends the general municipal law to limit the number of hours certain public employees can work to no more than seventeen hours in any given workday. This applies to all employees of municipal corporations or other civil divisions or political subdivisions of the state, unless an applicable collective bargaining agreement allows otherwise. The bill also specifies that overtime compensation is to be regarded as salary or compensation for pension or retirement purposes, except as outlined in certain sections of the retirement and social security law.
