Authorizes online petitioning system for designating petitions in New York elections.
This bill amends the election law to authorize and direct the state board of elections, in cooperation with county boards of elections, to create an online petitioning system for designating petitions. The system must be integrated with county boards, allow only eligible voters to sign, and verify voter identity. Use of the online system does not preclude the collection and use of paper petitions. The state board of elections is authorized to promulgate necessary rules and regulations.
