Provides eligibility for certain EMT members to join the 25-year retirement program.
This bill amends the retirement and social security law to allow eligible EMT members who previously opted out of the 25-year retirement program a second opportunity to join. Eligible members must file an application within 180 days of becoming an EMT member. Members who have already opted out can still join if they file an election form within 180 days of the bill's effective date. Members joining the 25-year plan will pay Basic Member Contributions and Additional Member Contributions until they reach 30 years of service.
