The bill directs the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to extend its discounted monthly transportation passes to students commuting to and from classes at accredited colleges, universities, and career education schools. The program, known as the College and Career Education Partnership Program, offers a minimum 25% discount on the full price of a monthly pass. To qualify, institutions must be accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education or by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
