New York A05664 proposes adding a new article to the state constitution to allow for the recall of a district attorney.
New York A05664 proposes adding a new article to the state constitution to establish a process for the recall of a district attorney. The recall process is initiated by submitting a petition to the state board of elections, signed by at least 20% of the voters from the district attorney's last election. If the petition is sufficient, an election is held within 60 to 80 days to decide whether to recall the district attorney. If a majority votes for recall, the district attorney is removed, and a successor is elected if there is a candidate. The district attorney cannot be a candidate.
