New York A05055 amends the public health law to require employees and independent contractors to notify their employers or the contractors for whom they provide services within three hours after receiving a positive COVID-19 test result. If the business is closed, notification must be made by 10:00 a.m. the next business day. Failure to notify as required results in a misdemeanor charge and/or a civil fine of up to one thousand dollars per day. Exceptions apply for individuals incapable of providing notification. All fines collected are to be deposited into the disease management account.
