Child abuse in the second degree is a class B felony, while child abuse in the first degree is a class A felony. Vulnerable elderly person or incompetent or physically disabled person abuse in the second degree is a class B felony, and in the first degree is a class A felony. Torture is a class A felony and does not require proof that the victim suffered pain.
