Authorizes grants of $50,000 to up to 20 school districts for implementing the seal of civic readiness program.
This bill amends the education law to authorize grants of $50,000 to no more than 20 school districts for public schools that have successfully completed both the seal of civic readiness application and commissioner created grant application. The commissioner will award these grants competitively, based on exemplary applications that detail plans for utilizing teaching and/or clerical staff, community partnerships, professional development, and curriculum and instructional design to implement the seal of civic readiness program. The program will begin in the 2025-2026 state fiscal year.
