The bill establishes a public transportation expansion fund to ensure access to public transportation for publicly funded economic development projects. The fund will be jointly administered by the commissioner of economic development and the commissioner of transportation. Eligible transportation authorities in economic development regions can receive up to five million dollars per fiscal year for establishing new transit services, improving facilities, purchasing equipment, and other capital and operating expenses.
