New York A03745 amends the public officers law to subject contributions made by any person, firm, association, or corporation to a member of the state legislature for legal defense to monetary limitations and disclosure requirements similar to those for campaign contributions. These contributions must be disclosed annually to the legislative ethics commission. Anonymous contributions must be paid over to the state comptroller. The act takes effect immediately but is deemed in full force and effect from January 1, 2025.
