Enacts the "go green schools act" to assist school districts in converting to renewable energy sources as a primary source of energy.
The "go green schools act" directs the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to develop a mapping tool to assist school districts in converting to renewable energy systems as a primary source of energy. The mapping tool will be posted on NYSERDA's website and include information on cost-effective renewable energy options and siting considerations. NYSERDA must also conduct a study on the financial feasibility and sustainability of converting each public school district to renewable energy and submit a report with recommendations. The act takes effect immediately.
