Requires school districts to provide water safety information to parents or students upon enrollment.
This bill amends the education law to require school districts to provide information on drowning prevention, water safety, and safe and healthy swimming to parents or guardians of students upon enrollment. Starting from the 2026-2027 school year, this information must be provided annually. If the student is 18 years or older, the information must be provided directly to the student. The information may be provided electronically or in paper form and translated into the twelve most common non-English languages spoken by limited-English proficient individuals in the state.
