New York A03489 amends the social services law to authorize the reissuance of emergency assistance to needy families with children, safety net assistance, SNAP benefits, or emergency assistance for aged, blind and disabled persons in cases of fraud or theft of benefits. The reissuance must occur within seven days of the victim submitting a signed statement documenting the theft. The bill also allows for the reduction of replacement benefits by any previously or contemporaneously received benefits authorized by the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023. This act takes effect immediately.
