Establishes the crime of domestic violence as a class A misdemeanor in New York.

New York A03465 amends the penal law by adding a new section defining domestic violence. A person commits domestic violence if they commit a specified misdemeanor and there is a specified relationship with the victim. A "specified relationship" includes being a current or former spouse, parent or guardian, sharing a child, or being in a similar situation. A "specified misdemeanor" includes assault in the third degree, menacing in the second degree, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, forcible touching, or aggravated harassment in the second degree.
