Establishes a minimum threshold of five hundred dollars for recovery of overpayment of wages in New York.

The bill amends the state finance law to establish a minimum threshold of five hundred dollars for the recovery of overpayment of wages. It requires the state to provide an employee who is alleged to have been overpaid with notice and an opportunity to respond to such allegation before the state seeks recovery. The employee may choose to limit the recovery to no more than ten percent of their biweekly paycheck. The comptroller has sole authority to collect any amounts due when an employee separates from service. This act takes effect immediately.
