Allows the attorney general to transfer investigative authority and criminal jurisdiction to an independent counsel in cases involving peace officers.
This bill provides that in instances involving alleged criminal offenses committed by a peace officer, whether in or out of duty and employed or contracted by a corrections agency, concerning any incident in which the death of a person is caused by an act or omission of such peace officer, the attorney general shall have the authority to transfer the investigatory authority and criminal jurisdiction to an individual or individuals independent of the office of the attorney general.
