The bill establishes a chief sustainability officer to coordinate efforts across all state agencies and government entities to address climate change mitigation and sustainability. The officer will review and propose amendments to state agency rules, coordinate energy and environmental sustainability programs, and promote efficient state operations. The officer will also partner with private and public entities to leverage the latest climate science and advise the New York state climate action council.
