This bill amends the public health law to allow controlled substances to be prescribed for people with substance use disorder during emergency medical treatment unrelated to the disorder, for those suffering from incurable and fatal diseases, and for those aged, infirm, or seriously ill where withdrawal would endanger their life or recovery. It also permits controlled substances to be ordered and administered by practitioners, registered nurses, or emergency medical technicians to relieve acute withdrawal symptoms.
