New York A02226 amends the penal law to include threats to disseminate or publish intimate images as unlawful. A person is guilty of unlawful dissemination or publication of an intimate image if they threaten to disseminate or publish a still or video image depicting another person with one or more intimate parts exposed or engaging in sexual conduct with another person, where the person may reasonably be identified. The actor must have known or reasonably should have known that the person depicted did not consent to such dissemination or publication. The bill takes effect immediately.
