New York A01940, known as the "New York menstrual and menopause act," amends the workers' compensation law to provide four days of paid leave per month for menstrual complications and menopause. Menstrual complications include hypothyroidism, fibroids, menorrhagia, endometriosis, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Menopause includes symptoms such as vasomotor symptoms, chills, sleep problems, hormonal/emotional imbalances, weight gain, and slowed metabolism. The leave is in addition to any other leave an employee may take.
