The commission will evaluate and make recommendations on the reforestation and restoration of forests and ecological habitats, including wildlife, in New York. It will also research the loss and degradation of natural resources, including wetlands and streams, and investigate sustainable agriculture practices. The commission will submit a report with recommendations to the governor, the temporary president of the senate, and the speaker of the assembly by December 1, 2026.
