New York A01538 amends the education law to require each school district to employ a certified school library media specialist in each elementary, intermediate, middle, junior high and senior high school within three years of the effective date. The employment of these specialists is based on school enrollment, with varying full-time equivalent staff member allocations. Schools with more than five hundred students must employ one full-time specialist, while those with more than two thousand students must employ two full-time specialists.
