Removes requirement for repayment of rent arrears for social services districts in large municipalities.

New York Assembly Bill A01504 amends the social services law to remove the requirement for repayment of rent arrears for social services districts located in municipalities with a population of five million or more. Recipients of assistance for rent arrears in these larger municipalities will not be required to repay the assistance. The bill also mandates the establishment of standards for repayment agreements for social services districts in smaller municipalities. The changes are set to take effect immediately and apply to assistance provided on and after March 13, 2020.
