This applies to violations of the tax law, transportation law, vehicle and traffic law, or local laws related to motor vehicles or motorcycles. The court must notify the defendant of the available dates by first class mail. If the defendant requests a trial, the court must set a trial date subsequent to the initial appearance and notify the defendant by first class mail.
