New York A01132 amends the public health law to allow veterinarians to determine if an animal has a medical condition that may benefit from treatment with medical marihuana. The bill defines "certified patient" as a human patient or animal who is a resident of New York state or receiving care and treatment in New York state and is certified under section thirty-three hundred sixty-one of the public health law. The bill also defines "practitioner" as a physician or veterinarian licensed by New York state and qualified to treat a serious condition. The bill takes effect immediately.
