The "protect our privacy (POP) act" imposes limitations on the use of drones for law enforcement purposes. It prohibits law enforcement from using drones at concerts, protests, demonstrations, or other actions protected by the first amendment. Drones may only be used for search and rescue operations. Any data obtained from drones cannot be used for law enforcement purposes, and personally identifying information must be kept confidential. The act also mandates the destruction of data not part of an ongoing investigation within one year.
