Provides funding for abortion services and travel-related expenses for active duty members of the armed forces of the United States, or their spouses.
This bill amends the public health law to provide funding for abortion services and travel-related expenses for active duty members of the armed forces of the United States, or their spouses or dependents, who are New York state residents. The funding covers surgical and pharmaceutical abortions, as well as travel costs, when such services are not covered by military insurance and cannot be legally obtained in the location where the service member is stationed. The services must be provided by a licensed health care practitioner. The act will take effect 180 days after it becomes law.
