Allows employees to receive paid sick leave for the medical diagnosis or treatment of their sick pets.
The "sick leave for pets care act" amends the labor law to allow employees to receive paid sick leave for the medical diagnosis or treatment of their sick pets. This leave is in addition to existing provisions for leave related to domestic violence, family offenses, sexual offenses, stalking, human trafficking, and personal or family member health conditions. The bill defines "covered animal" as an employee's service animal or an animal kept primarily for companionship in compliance with applicable laws. This act takes effect immediately.
